ClearWater Forestry Services is a forestry consulting company begun in 1999 to fill the need of supplying a wide range of forestry services to private and industrial landowners.



ClearWater’s mission is to provide services that may be needed by private landowners, public entities, or industrial customers as related to their forested and farm lands. This is to be achieved in a prompt, efficient, safe and ethical manner. ClearWater’s goals are to maintain high standards to accomplish a task that meets or exceeds the landowner’s expectations, to provide the kind of services that a customer wants and/or needs, and to serve the mid-Atlantic region.



Combined experience of almost 100 years doing forestry, wildlife, and related fields.

Jim Vadas is certified by the Society of American Foresters and is a graduate of West Virginia University with an MBA from Averett University. He was employed by Chesapeake Corporation for 27 years until the company sold its timberland, paper, and sawmill operations.

Ed Kroh is a graduate forester of Penn State with over 30 years of experience with the Virginia Department of Forestry, Chesapeake Corporation, and Bear Island Paper Company.

Robert Sears is a forest technician with over 30 years of experience with Chesapeake Corporation, his family wood and log procurement operations, F & P Enterprises (wood dealer), and South Paw Forest Products (wood dealer).

Waverly Yates is a labor contractor who has done forestry work for years, previously for Dorothy Jordan's crew who worked on Chesapeake Corporation lands for years as well as other jobs throughout the state.
